Team Profile

Purpose

The Team Profile shows the motivation profiles of all members of a team in six charts. You see where each member stands, where the team as a whole stands, and which team role suits each member best. The page contains the same charts as the PowerPoint export of the team profile.

Who can see this?

Administrators, as well as team leaders and users who have the Analyse permission in at least one team (see Teams and permissions). The menu item Team › Team Profile only appears if the product is enabled for your account.

In the Team field, administrators can select any team. Everyone else sees the teams they lead; if they do not lead a team, they see the teams in which they have the Analyse permission.

Prerequisite: at least one team member has a motivation profile. A team task is not required.

Layout

Team Profile with team selection, tag filter and charts

  1. Team – Determines which team the charts evaluate. The choice also applies to the other pages of the Team group.
  2. Tags – Limits the charts to the members with the selected tag and calculates the team dot from them only. The tag also applies to the PowerPoint file.
  3. Download PPT – Creates a PowerPoint file from the selected team and downloads it. The file contains further slides and at most 20 members; with more members, a note below the button says so.
  4. Chart – Shows the position of each member between the poles of the axes as a dot. The black dot TM stands for the team as a whole.
  5. Legend – Maps the colors of the dots to the names of the members and names the team dot TEAM. Longer names are cut to 20 characters, and the color of a member is the same in all six charts.

Functions

Select a team

The Team Profile always evaluates exactly one team; with Team you decide whose members the charts show. The data comes from the most recently completed motivation profile of each member, whether it was created in MatchLytics-Management or in MatchLytics-Assessment. The team you select also applies to the other pages of the Team group until you reload the application. The page only reads data and changes nothing.

  1. Open Team › Team Profile.
  2. Select the desired team in the Team field.

The charts appear below and include all members with a motivation profile. Members without a motivation profile are missing; if no member has one, “No data available” appears.

Filter by tag

A tag limits the evaluation to a subgroup of the team without switching teams. Tags belong to the members and are assigned in the employee table; all tags of the team members are available. The filter applies to the charts and to the download of the PowerPoint file, but only on this page and only until you leave it.

  1. Select a tag in the Tags field.
  2. The charts now only show the members with this tag. The team dot is recalculated for these members.
  3. Clear the field to see all members again.

If no member with the selected tag has a motivation profile, “No data available” appears. The Tags field remains visible so that you can clear the filter again. If you switch teams, the page resets the tag because tags belong to the members of one team; choose a tag again in the new team if needed.

Read the charts

The five scatter charts show the same motivation profiles from different angles and use the same values as the slides of the PowerPoint export. Each member is a colored dot with the first two letters of their name. The colors follow the alphabetical order of the members shown and therefore change when a tag hides members. The team dot TM is the mean of all members shown.

The farther a dot is from the center, the more the pole on that side predominates; near the center, both poles are about equally strong. The scale ranges from −80 to 80, larger values lie on the edge.

Chart top bottom left right Basis
Team dynamics Assertion Security Recognition Affiliation Basic needs
Orientation when assessing situations Future Past Insight Empathy Orientation
Preferences: perceiving and deciding Thinking Feeling Sensing Intuition Preferences
Focus when completing tasks Meaning Facts Process Goal Focus
Implicit motives (driving forces) Freedom Achievement Power Contact Driving forces

The Team dynamics chart also names the four areas Development (top left), Motivation (top right), Specialization (bottom left) and Consulting (bottom right).

Ideal role assignment

The sixth chart translates the motivation profile of each member into a team role, so that you can see which roles the team covers. The app calculates nine role values from the basic needs and picks the role with the highest value for each member; in a tie, the role listed higher in the table applies. The team dot TM shows the strongest role of the average team profile, not the average of the members.

Ideal role assignment chart with nine team roles

The horizontal axis lists the nine roles; the height of the dot (80 to 140) indicates how strongly this role is pronounced. Each role is based on one or two basic needs:

Role Basic needs
Realizer Assertion (red) and Rationality (black)
Developer Assertion (red) and Specialization (blue)
Entrepreneur Assertion (red)
Motivator Assertion (red) and Affiliation (yellow)
Coordinator Affiliation (yellow) and Specialization (blue)
Supporter Affiliation (yellow) and Empathy (white)
Specialist Security (green) and Specialization (blue)
Controller Security (green) and Rationality (black)
Perfectionist Specialization (blue)

Next: The Job Roles page shows nine values per member that are based on the same combinations of basic needs.

Download PPT

The button creates a PowerPoint file from the selected team that contains further slides besides these charts, such as a competency table and the team personality. The server reads the members itself and applies the selected tag, so that page and file show the same selection. Only the file has a limit: it takes at most 20 members, while the page shows all of them. With more than 20 members, the note “The PowerPoint contains the first 20 members.” appears below the button.

  1. Select the team and, if needed, a tag.
  2. Click Download PPT.

The browser downloads the file TwentyFive_<team name>.pptx, created in the language of the user interface. The export changes no data and sends no email. If it finds no member, “No member with this tag has a motivation profile.” appears when you selected a tag, otherwise “No team member has a motivation profile yet.” Any other failure shows “Export Failed”.

Next: The page Team motivation profile describes which slides the file contains.

Notes

The Team Profile is not the “Team Profile” slide of the Team Analysis. That slide shows the combined motivation profile of the team with an interpretation; this page shows the position of each individual member. If a team has more than 10 members, a warning icon appears next to the Team field. Clicking it opens the page Optimal team size.
