Team Analysis
Purpose
The Team Analysis compares the motivation profiles of all members of a team. Across several slides it shows where the members differ, how they communicate and how the team can be managed. Pair comparisons, recommendations and an HTML export for team workshops complete the evaluation.
The team analysis complements two other evaluations:
- The Team Profile shows the team’s motivation profiles as charts and exports them to PowerPoint. It contains no written-out texts.
- The Team Barometer evaluates the team’s current situation week by week. It requires a team analysis.
Who can see this?
Administrators, as well as team leaders and users who have the Analyse permission in at least one team. The team leader has all permissions in their own team. The administrator assigns permissions under Administration › Users & Teams (see Teams and Permissions). The server checks this rule for every action, that is, when starting, viewing, exporting and deleting: you need the team leader role or the Analyse permission in the team; the List and View permissions alone are not enough.
The Team field offers the teams you lead. If you do not lead a team, you see the teams in which you have the Analyse permission. Administrators see all teams.
Prerequisites:
- MatchLytics-Management is enabled for your account.
- At least two members of the team have a completed motivation profile. The analysis uses each member’s latest profile. If fewer than two members have one, no analysis is created. Instead of the success message, the warning “At least two members are required for the difference matrix.” appears, and the page keeps offering Start Analysis.
Layout

- Team – Selects the team whose stored analysis the page shows. When you switch, the page loads the analysis of the other team, and the selection also stays in place on the other pages under Team.
- Export analysis – Downloads the stored analysis as a standalone HTML file that you open in a browser as a presentation for team workshops. The export only reads the analysis and does not change it; the section Export analysis describes the steps and the content.
- Recalculate – Recalculates the analysis from the latest motivation profiles of the current members and replaces the stored version for everyone with access. The app does not ask for confirmation, the old version is not kept, and the new one is created in the current app language.
- Delete Analysis – Removes the team’s stored analysis without asking; the app offers no undo. Afterwards the page shows Start Analysis again, and the team’s Team Barometer can only be calculated after a new analysis. The button only appears while an analysis is stored.
- Slides – The tabs from Personalities to Hints change the content below the tab bar and do not change the analysis. Hints only appears if the analysis contains hints.
- Slide content – Shows the selected slide as of the last calculation. New profiles and member changes only appear when someone clicks Recalculate.
The analysis is calculated on the server and stored per team. Everyone with access sees the same stored analysis. The texts of the analysis are in the language that was set in the app at the time of calculation (German or English; English for any other language).
The following sections describe the slides in the order of the tabs.
Personalities

- Name and motivation type – The card names the member and, below, the motivation type from their latest completed motivation profile. The motivations, the communication style and the texts of the card derive from the type.
- Motivations – The colored chips name the defining motivations of the type. From them the app determines the friction between two members, which appears as a bar in the Difference Matrix.
- Tabs Profile, Communication and Portrait – Switch the view of this one card only; the other cards stay on their tab. Profile shows the values, Communication the style and Portrait the texts on the motivation type.
- Leadership tip – Gives a tip on how you can lead this member; the box is in the Portrait tab. The same tip appears in the Pair Comparison and on the Governance slide.
- Further links TwentyFive Portrait and Comm. style – Open more detailed descriptions of the motivation type and the communication style in a new browser tab. A button is missing if no link is stored for the type.
For each member, the slide shows a card with three tabs:
- Profile: the six motivations as bars on a scale from 70 to 130.
- Communication: General, Personal and Written describe the communication style. needs lists what the person needs in communication, Friction what bothers them.
- Portrait: short and full text of the motivation type, Goal, Strengths, Learns through, Motivation, Comm. Style and the Leadership tip.
Reading aid: The color on the left edge of the card matches the first of these motivations. The motivations have the same colors on all slides: Red = Assertiveness, Green = Security, Blue = Specialization, Yellow = Belonging, Black = Insight, White = Empathy.
Difference Matrix

- Matrix cell – Compares two members: the color dot names the motivation with the largest difference, the number is the difference with its sign, and the bar shows the friction in communication. The tooltip names both members and the motivation with its difference. A click opens the Pair Comparison of the pair.
- Motivation Difference – Assigns the six motivations to the color dots; they carry the same colors on all slides. For each pair, the matrix shows only the motivation with the largest difference.
- Friction – Explains the colors of the bar in the cell: red stands for two or more conflicts, yellow for one, green for none. Conflicts arise when motivations of both types collide, for example “Speed vs. Consensus” or “Analysis vs. Relationship”.
- 3 Tension Fields – Names the three axes Height, Proximity and Warmth on which the pair comparison places two members. Each axis contrasts two motivations; the hint “Click a cell → tension analysis” in the legend refers to the Pair Comparison.
The matrix compares each member with every other member, and each pair appears exactly once. Each cell shows:
- Color dot and background color of the motivation with the largest difference between the two. The larger the absolute value of the difference, the stronger the background; with a plus sign, the person named first in the tooltip is higher.
- A bar for the communication friction: High (2+ Conflicts) (red), Medium (1 Conflict) (yellow) or Low (none) (green).
- When you hover over a cell, a tooltip with both names and the difference with its sign.
The axes of the 3 Tension Fields contrast Height (Assertiveness vs. Security), Proximity (Specialization vs. Belonging) and Warmth (Insight vs. Empathy).
Pair Comparison

- Pair – The heading names the two members, with their motivation types below. The chip next to it shows the friction level, the same as the bar in the matrix cell.
- Tabs Motivation, Communication, Behavior and Portrait – Show the same pair from four angles. All details come from the stored analysis; the dialog recalculates nothing.
- Difference bars per motivation – Each bar runs from the center line to the left or right and shows how strongly the two differ in this motivation; the number next to it is the difference with its sign. With a plus sign the person named first is higher and the bar points left to them, with a minus sign it points right to the second person; max marks the pair’s largest difference. At a difference of 60 the bar reaches the edge.
- Tension Fields – Places the pair on the axes Height, Proximity and Warmth. The chip names the characteristic and is green up to a difference of 10, yellow above that and red above 20; the bar grows in the color of the pole the pair leans to, to the left toward the first-named pole (for Height, Assertiveness) or to the right toward the second. The text below interprets the tension.
- Close – Closes the dialog and returns to the Difference Matrix. Nothing is saved or changed in the process.
The Pair Comparison dialog has four tabs:
- Motivation: One difference bar for each of the six motivations. Below are the Tension Fields and the pair’s Motivation Synergy.
- Communication: General, Written, needs and Friction for both people. Below are the pair’s Communication conflicts and Synergies.
- Behavior: typical behaviors of both people and Managing this pair, i.e. advice on leading the two together. If no data is available, No behavior data available appears.
- Portrait: short and full text, Goal, Strengths, Learning Fields and Leadership tip for both people.
Communication

- Problems – Lists pairs with high friction, meaning two or more conflicts in communication, with the conflict in the title and the two members as chips. The column shows only what the analysis finds; otherwise it shows a dash.
- Synergies – Shows where two members complement each other in communication, with the shared orientation in the title and the pair as chips. The same synergies appear in the Communication tab of the Pair Comparison.
- Gaps – Names what the team lacks in communication: motivations that no member brings as a defining one, the absence of a prevailing communication style, and the weakest motivations. Instead of members, the chips here show contexts in which the gap takes effect.
The slide summarizes communication in the team in three columns. Each entry has a title, a description and chips.
Behaviors

- Dominant / Weak – Name the two motivations with the highest and the two with the lowest team average, each with its color. It is the same average that the Team Profile slide shows as bars.
- Problems – Describes where the two strongest motivations can shape behavior in the team one-sidedly, each with the motivation’s average value.
- Synergies – Names the competencies in which at least one member reaches a high value of 75 or more and lists those members as chips. The values come from the members’ competencies.
- Gaps – Describes behaviors that are barely represented in the team. They result from the two motivations with the lowest team average.
Below are the same three columns as on Communication, applied to behavior patterns in the team.
Governance

-
Problems – Collects competency gaps, motivation types that occur three or more times in the team, members with friction points in communication, and pairs with high friction. The members concerned appear as chips.
-
Synergies – Shows each member’s Leadership tip as a pointer on how the team can be managed. They are the same tips as in the Portrait tab of the card on the Personalities slide.
-
Gaps – Names management roles that no member fills, namely Mentor, Coordinator, Advisor and Moderator. Missing competencies are already listed under Problems and do not appear here again.

-
Situation Fit · Collective Supply Status – Shows cards for motivations whose team average is unusually high or low, with an interpretation for the team. The cards are based on the team’s profiles, not on the weekly check from SituationFit and Weekly Check.
The three columns describe roles, decisions and leadership in the team. Below, the Situation Fit · Collective Supply Status area shows a card for each motivation whose team average is outside the normal range: ↑ Oversupply for an average above 108, ↓ Undersupply for an average below 92. The card names the color of the motivation; its text describes what this means for the team. If all motivations are within the normal range, the area is not shown.
Team Profile

- Motivation Profile – Shows the average of the six motivations of all members as bars, with an interpretation below. The further a bar lies above the marker at 100, the more strongly the motivation is represented in the team.
- Driving Forces – Shows the four driving forces Power, Achievement, Contact and Freedom as the team average. If a value is below 80, the app marks it ↓ undersupplied; it then feeds into the Recommended Complement Type and the Hints slide.
- Team Type – Gives the team a name derived from its two strongest motivations, for example “Strategic Alliance”. Below are the most frequent motivation type among the members and a description of strengths and weaknesses.
- Team Synergy – Names, with a title and an explanation, the synergy that results from the team’s two strongest motivations. It is based on the team average, not on individual members.
- Internal Effect – Describes how the team affects its employees internally, derived from the weakest motivation. The card is missing if no text is available for it.
- Recommended Complement Type – Names the motivation type that would balance the most underserved driving force. If all driving forces are sufficiently served, it states that the team is balanced.
The bars of both areas range from 70 to 130. If the team is balanced, Recommended Complement Type reads The team is well-balanced. No complement needed.
You find the Team Profile charts with tag filter and PowerPoint export on the Team Profile page.
Competencies

- Average / Maximum – Show two bars per competency: the average of all members and the highest value of a single member. The dashed line at 90 marks the limit up to which an average counts as a gap.
- Competency Gaps – Lists the competencies whose team average is 90 or less, with the average next to them. The same gaps also appear on the Governance and Hints slides; there the text states that the team average of the competency is 90 or lower.
- Team Strengths (avg ≥ 95) – Lists the competencies whose team average is at least 95, with the average next to them. Competencies between 90 and 95 appear in neither list.
- Best Individual Competency – Names for each competency the member with the highest value and the value itself. If values are equal, the member the analysis considered first is shown.
For each of the nine competencies (Support, Advise, Analyze, Control, Develop, Motivate, Realize, Coordinate, Force), the slide shows the team at a glance. The values come from the members’ competencies as of the calculation.
You find the competencies of the individual members on the Job Roles page.
Recommendations

- Category with icon – Each card belongs to one of four categories, recognizable by icon and name. Which cards appear depends on the findings of the other slides (see the table below).
- Title of the recommendation – Names the goal of the card, for example “Improve communication structures” or “Strengthen empathy in the team”. The titles are fixed per category and name no persons.
- Measures as a list – The measures are suggestions for the team, partly supplemented with findings from the slides, such as a conflict area or the empathy value. The app does not create tasks or appointments from them.
The recommendations are derived from the Communication, Behaviors and Governance slides and the team profile. There are up to four cards, one per category:
| Icon | Category | Appears if … |
|---|---|---|
| 💬 | Communication Format | the Communication slide contains problems |
| 🔄 | Reflection Breaks | the Behaviors slide contains problems or gaps |
| 🎯 | Decision Architecture | the Governance slide contains problems or gaps |
| 🪞 | Empathy Gap | the team profile shows a value below 100 for the Empathy motivation |
Conversations with individual members are recorded under Regular meetings.
Hints

- Severity – Groups the hints by urgency into High, Medium and Low; empty groups are omitted. The level results from the type of finding (see below).
- Hint – The icon shows the category: conflict (⚡), diversity (🧩), development (🌱) or competency (🎓). Title and description state the finding with the values from the analysis.
- Source – Names what the hint was derived from, for conflicts the pair concerned, otherwise an area such as team composition or competency analysis. This lets you check the finding on the matching slide.
The slide collects findings from the difference matrix, team profile and competencies, grouped by severity:
- High (⚡): A pair has a difference of more than 60 in one motivation.
- Medium (🧩, 🌱): More than 60% of the members share the same motivation type, or a driving force is undersupplied.
- Low (🎓, 🧩): A competency is a competency gap, or a member has no name on record. In that case, have the name added under Administration › Users & Teams and recalculate the analysis.
Functions
Start Analysis
The team analysis does not appear on its own; it is calculated once for each team and stored. Start Analysis reads the latest completed motivation profile of each member (see Employees and motivation profiles) and calculates all slides from it; members without a profile are left out. The Team Barometer requires the stored analysis. Whoever sees the page may also start the analysis.
- Open Team › Team Analysis.
- Select the team in the Team field.
- If there is no analysis yet, click Start Analysis.
After the calculation, the message Team analysis created successfully appears and the slides are shown. The analysis is created in the language currently set and applies immediately to everyone with access; the app sends no emails. If an analysis already exists, the page shows it immediately.
Next: If an analysis is missing, reminder emails lead team leaders or administrators to this page, in the Controlboard through the workflow Erstellung einer Team-Analyse (creation of a team analysis; the app shows workflow names in German; Workflows) or manually by administrators under Company › Reports (Reports).
Browse the slides
The slides show the same stored analysis from up to nine angles; switching calculates nothing anew. On the Difference Matrix slide, clicking a cell opens the Pair Comparison, which shows one pair from the stored analysis in detail. To compare two people who are not on the same team, or a person with a position, use the Synergy Analysis. Whoever sees the page may view all slides.
- Click the tab of the desired slide. If not all tabs fit, scroll with the arrows at the edge of the tab bar.
- On the Difference Matrix slide, click a cell to open the Pair Comparison, and switch between its tabs.
- Click Close to return to the matrix.
Switching slides and the pair comparison do not change the analysis and send no emails.
Recalculate
The stored analysis is a snapshot: it does not pick up new profiles or changes in the team on its own. Recalculate reads the latest motivation profiles of the current members again and replaces the team’s analysis. Afterwards, the export and new calculations in the Team Barometer also use the new version. Whoever sees the page may recalculate.
Click Recalculate if
- members were added to or removed from the team,
- members have completed a new motivation profile,
- the analysis should appear in a different language (switch the app language first),
- the Hints slide reports a member without a name and you have added the name.
The new version replaces the old one for everyone with access; there is no way back to the old version. The message Team analysis created successfully confirms the calculation, and the app sends no emails.
Delete Analysis
The analysis is stored exactly once per team; Delete Analysis removes that record, for example when the team has changed fundamentally. Without an analysis, the Team Barometer calculates the team neither manually nor automatically on Monday until a new analysis exists. Everyone who sees the page may delete, including team leaders and users with the Analyse permission. The button only exists when an analysis is stored for the team.
Click Delete Analysis.
The analysis is gone immediately and there is no safety prompt; the message Team analysis deleted appears, and the page offers Start Analysis again. Deleting cannot be undone, and the app sends no emails. HTML files that were exported earlier remain.
Export analysis
The export makes the stored analysis usable outside the app: it creates a standalone HTML file with which you guide the team through the results slide by slide in a workshop. The file is built from the stored analysis at download, without anything being recalculated. Whoever sees the page may export.

- Slide buttons – The bar at the top jumps directly to a slide, from Introduction via Personalities and Matrix to Recommendations. Hints is only in the bar if the analysis contains hints.
- Coach – Shows a facilitation note for each slide that guides the workshop conversation, for example “No judgment, just a mirror.” Another click hides it again.
- Members – Show initials, first name and motivation type for each member. Small color dots below stand for the motivations of the type.
- Core areas – The cards name Communication, Behaviors and Management with a keyword each and, if the analysis contains hints, Hints. They summarize what the workshop is about.
- ← Back / Next → – Move one slide back or forward and are disabled at the start and the end. The arrow keys on the keyboard do the same.
To export the analysis:
- Click Export analysis.
- The browser downloads an HTML file. The file name starts with
team-analyse-and ends with the language code of the analysis, e.g.-en.html. - Open the file in a browser. It contains all content and does not require a login.
The export always contains the stored analysis in its own language. If the app language differs, the warning The analysis is stored in de. Please recalculate it for en. (with the respective language codes) appears before the download. The download starts anyway. If you want the export in the app language, click Recalculate first and then export again.
The file starts with the Introduction slide: member row, the three core areas and the creation date. The same slides as in the app follow; in the export the difference matrix is called Matrix and the Governance slide Management.
Notes
The team analysis names members. It shows pairs with high friction, personal leadership tips and learning fields. Only show the analysis or the export to people who need it for team development. The HTML file is not protected: anyone who receives it can open it without a login.
Present the analysis to the team as a mirror, not a judgment. The facilitation notes in the export recommend framing problems as information and commenting only after the team has responded.
The Team Barometer requires a current team analysis. If you delete the analysis, the Team Barometer can only be calculated again after you have started a new analysis.
